Briefing: The Rising National Security Threat of Overseas Compounds

Erin West will be the featured speaker at a July 23 congressional staff briefing on the rapid growth of overseas scam compounds and their impact on Americans, the global economy, and U.S. national security.

Across Southeast Asia and beyond, organized criminal networks are operating large-scale “scam compounds” that target Americans through sophisticated digital fraud schemes. These operations generate billions in illicit revenue, increasingly represent a meaningful share of economic activity in some regions, and are often linked to transnational crime and human trafficking.

This is an in-person event. Please register to join AARP for the briefing on Thursday, July 23, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the Capitol Visitor Center.
