Congress Moves Forward on AARP-Backed Fraud Protections
AARP | Bipartisan legislation to fund new resources for state and local law enforcement to combat fraud is moving forward after the U.S. House of Representatives passed it on September 15 by an overwhelming vote of 414-7.
The “Guarding Unprotected Aging Retirees from Deception Act,” also known as the GUARD Act, would direct federal funds to state, local, and tribal authorities to train staff, hire fraud experts, and secure specialized software to better detect and combat scams.

The bill already passed unanimously out of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary earlier this year and now moves to a full vote of the Senate.
